Times of Fear and Uncertainty
We may be living in a time of fear and chaos in our country. But there is one truth we can stand solidly upon: the plans of the Lord stand firm forever.
The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:10-11 Click To TweetWe may be tempted to cling to fear or discouragement instead of this truth. But the God who created this world wants us to remember that he is in control. He loves us with a fierce, never-ending love, and his sovereign hand will never let us go.
In the depths of our souls, God wants us to know that no matter what circumstances we face, the purposes of his heart will prevail.
No Greater Power Than God
Our God is the Almighty One. Absolutely nothing can hinder his plans from coming to pass. His power is real–and it is unstoppable.
On the contrary, the world has no such power of its own.
It can never rise up against our God and win.
Most certainly, God can thwart the plans of the nations and the purposes of the peoples without any effort at all.
With just the sound of his voice, he can bring nations to ruin.
While the enemies of God scheme against the godly, the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming (Psalm 37:13). The world’s power and authority is so minuscule in the face of God that it is simply laughable.
Indeed, nothing is too hard for God. Throughout every single minute, he is in control.
God Dispels the Darkness
We may see impossible situations and a future of darkness before us, but God sees an opportunity to display his power.
God is full of light and love. He can dispel the deepest darkness, dismantling any plans that rise up against his.
With a God like this, we have such great hope! Not only in the fact that nothing can stop Him, but also because his plans come from straight from his heart.
Throughout the generations, God works purposefully with an unfailing, lavish love for his people.
Indeed, that is what drives his purposes forward: the goodness of his heart.
Cling to the Bible–Not to Fear
Many days we can be tempted to cling to fear. But when we open the pages of the Bible, our fear melts away. Our hearts and minds meet the unalterable truths of God, and we are filled with the peace and presence of God. There is nothing else like it on earth.
When we come face to face with the word of God, it changes us.
It fills us with strength and hope.
The real and everlasting nature of his words refresh us like nothing else can. How beautiful it is!
Yes, the world will pretend like it can offer something just as wonderful. But it never has…and it never will.
Prayer for Strength, Peace, and Purpose
Daily we can pray that God will renew our minds with a strength and peace that only he can give.
We can pray that his love will guide us to fulfill the desires of his heart–not ours. For his plans are vastly greater than ours, and they always have our best interests at heart.
As believers, we are called to live with purpose, even in the most uncertain of days.
God alone can make this happen as we reach out to connect to him through his word and our prayers.
So as we step out into the world today, let us reach out and fearlessly take hold of the plans God has for us! For even in the most uncertain times, God’s word stands true: If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)?
