Is Christ Knocking on the Door of Your Heart?

Is Christ Knocking on the Door of your Heart?  Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20   Is God knocking at the door of your heart, asking you to let him fully in? How long has he been knocking? For weeks, months, even years? Many of us hear him tap-tapping on our hearts, calling us to a life of complete surrender. Yet we never fully open the door. Cautiously, we crack it open, put one eye up to the opening, and peer toward the Savior of our life. In the depth of our souls, we long to fling the door Read More

Waiting

Sometimes I wish waiting weren’t a part of God’s plan. I like to see things happen and know things are moving forward in the direction I want them to go. Waiting simply does not give me the comforting sense that I am in control and everything is going to work out just perfectly. (And I really want to know that!) Some days I wish I could just take a sneak peak at the end of God’s plan for me and see how it turns out…or at least hurry the whole process along until I get to the part that I really like.  Yes, I can convince myself quite easily that getting results (or at least being able to predict them) is what would be best for Read More

A Prayer to the One I Trust

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 NLT Keep me in your perfect peace, O Lord! Keep my thoughts fixed on you in all I do. I trust in you! Do not let me turn away to trust in the ways of man or in the idols of money or personal success, which promise so much yet deliver so little. Instead, let the instinct of my heart be to run to you to find peace and rest in the “shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). May I always say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:2)! Keep me abiding in your will, Read More

Following Jesus

And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Matthew 8:19-20 What an interesting reply Jesus had to this man who declared that he would follow Him wherever He went. Jesus did not say, “Welcome to the team!” or “Great to have you aboard!” Instead, he told the scribe that foxes and birds had homes, but He did not. Interesting. Why did he say that? What was he trying to tell this man? That he shouldn’t follow Him? I think that more likely He simply wanted to confront this well-intentioned man Read More
