Set Your Mind on a Course of Victory for Christ

A Small Victory Perhaps by now you’ve heard of my victory. My unbelievable victory! I ran up a hill.  That’s right. All the way up a hill! Yes, God set my feet in motion that day and showed me I could do things that are hard. I was sweating and panting…and praising God that he never gives up on me. Indeed, when I set my sights on Jesus, he makes me want to start running and never back down. I may be in a heap when I cross the finish line. But I will know I have run the race with purpose. I will know that nothing else in this life could have brought me greater joy than simply running the race with Him. People Pleasing Read More

All for Christ

Interview with Author Norma Gail This week I had the privilege of being interviewed by fellow author Norma Gail. Her questions made me reflect upon my relationship with the Lord and look deeply into the issue of giving everything to Christ. I pray God will help me to live the life He has called me to, and I am praying the same for you. How blessed we are to have our Savior by our side, leading us each step of the way. Here are a few of the questions I addressed in the interview: What new lessons is the Lord teaching you right now? God is teaching me to keep my eyes on Him and nothing else. He is teaching me to let go of Read More

Life in His Hands: The Journey

My twin sister once told me that God called her to lead Bible studies so that she would actually show up. After I laughed about that for awhile, I added, “God wanted me to write a devotional book so that I would actually start living what I’ve learned!” To me, there is something about hard, cold print that makes me feel the need to be more accountable. I guess the same concept applies to leading Bible studies, only it’s the people, not the print, that makes you feel you had better come through. God knows my sister and me pretty well, and he knows we need a good nudge once in awhile. He also knows it has taken lots of persuading to convince me that Read More

These Hands

“I will be the same in your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and save you.” Isaiah 46:4 I was working around the house today, and as I was scurrying around putting everything in its rightful place, I glanced down at my hands. Something made me stop, and I just stared down at my hands, examining them. These weren’t the hands they used to be; they were worn, creased with lines, and roughened a bit from the effects of time and use. I stood there focused on the change I had never seen in them before. To my surprise, I did not get distressed over these signs Read More

The Faith of a Leper

And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.  Matthew 8:2-3 Do you have the faith of the leper? Are you willing to approach God with full confidence that he can do absolutely anything in his great power? This leper, lacking any power of his own in regard to his physical strength or his standing in society, knew that Jesus could do anything, even cleanse a leper like himself.  Approaching Jesus with humility and faith, he states, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” He doesn’t ask Jesus if he can make Read More
