What to LOSE: Dreams without Action

A Series by Jill Holler – Part 1 Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes. Ephesians 3:20 TLB Dreams from the Mountaintop I like to dream big for God. In my mind, I like to imagine all of the extraordinary ways I might use my life to serve Jesus Christ and glorify Him. I love to sit for hours and read God’s word, allowing it to transport me to a heavenly mountaintop with Jesus, where His presence is vivid and real, and I am astounded by the wonder of who He is and Read More

A Prayer for My Sisters – A Guest Post by D.D.

Prayer For My Sisters Good morning! God has been busy with His plans and paintbrushes this morning as another day is here! What will it hold? I have not a clue, but God does…right down to the tiniest detail. Do things look impossible? Is too much going on, and does it all seem cluttered? Perhaps you can’t see the forest through the trees or see the light at the end of the tunnel. That’s ok. Let God be God. He holds the plan. Your role is to do away with distractions and focus on Him and His Kingdom! To hold on and have faith the size of a tiny mustard seed. To believe the promises of God–not what the world says. It may seem impossible. Read More

Life in His Hands: The Journey

My twin sister once told me that God called her to lead Bible studies so that she would actually show up. After I laughed about that for awhile, I added, “God wanted me to write a devotional book so that I would actually start living what I’ve learned!” To me, there is something about hard, cold print that makes me feel the need to be more accountable. I guess the same concept applies to leading Bible studies, only it’s the people, not the print, that makes you feel you had better come through. God knows my sister and me pretty well, and he knows we need a good nudge once in awhile. He also knows it has taken lots of persuading to convince me that Read More

Loathsome Quail

“You (Israelites) have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying, ‘Who will give us meat to eat? For it was better for us in Egypt.’ Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat…until it comes out at your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected the Lord who is among you…” (Numbers 11:18-20) The verses sure do convey a disgusting picture, but they hit me with such truth as I read them.  The entire passage of Numbers 11 shows a people who were not thankful for what the Lord had given them, but instead were consumed with desire for what they did not have, for what they thought they needed. These verses took me back years in my Read More

The Faith of a Leper

And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.  Matthew 8:2-3 Do you have the faith of the leper? Are you willing to approach God with full confidence that he can do absolutely anything in his great power? This leper, lacking any power of his own in regard to his physical strength or his standing in society, knew that Jesus could do anything, even cleanse a leper like himself.  Approaching Jesus with humility and faith, he states, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” He doesn’t ask Jesus if he can make Read More
