Set Your Mind on a Course of Victory for Christ

A Small Victory Perhaps by now you’ve heard of my victory. My unbelievable victory! I ran up a hill.  That’s right. All the way up a hill! Yes, God set my feet in motion that day and showed me I could do things that are hard. I was sweating and panting…and praising God that he never gives up on me. Indeed, when I set my sights on Jesus, he makes me want to start running and never back down. I may be in a heap when I cross the finish line. But I will know I have run the race with purpose. I will know that nothing else in this life could have brought me greater joy than simply running the race with Him. People Pleasing Read More

Climbing the Hill

Climbing the Hill I ran up a hill today. And I didn’t even stop at the top. No, I just kept on running. That’s simply not like me. I do enjoy a nice walk in the morning. But I’m not a huge fan of running up hills while my heart pounds wildly and sweat rolls down my back. That’s just not my favorite thing in life. So as far as I can tell, it must have been the hand of God that started pushing me up that hill because I had no idea my legs were going to kick it into high gear. Is Christ Knocking On The Door Of Your Heart?

Is Christ Knocking on the Door of your Heart?  Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20   Is God knocking at the door of your heart, asking you to let him fully in? How long has he been knocking? For weeks, months, even years? Many of us hear him tap-tapping on our hearts, calling us to a life of complete surrender, yet we never fully open the door. We crack the door open, put one eye up to the opening, and peer cautiously toward the Savior of our life. In the depth of our souls, we long to fling Read More

What to Lose: My Plans and Expectations

A Series by Jill Holler – Part 3 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21 If you read my last post, “What to Lose: My List of Failures,” you know that one way Satan tries to gain victory over me is by tempting me to focus on all of the mistakes I have made–instead of focusing on God. Similarly, the issue I address this week relates to my self-focused view.  It has been one of the biggest challenges of my Christian life. I pray that Christ will free me from its grip, so that I can gain abundant life in him. And I am praying the same for you.  Plans and Perceptions My mind Read More

Waiting

Sometimes I wish waiting weren’t a part of God’s plan. I like to see things happen and know things are moving forward in the direction I want them to go. Waiting simply does not give me the comforting sense that I am in control and everything is going to work out just perfectly. (And I really want to know that!) Some days I wish I could just take a sneak peak at the end of God’s plan for me and see how it turns out…or at least hurry the whole process along until I get to the part that I really like.  Yes, I can convince myself quite easily that getting results (or at least being able to predict them) is what would be best for Read More
