A Series by Jill Holler – Introduction
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:39
What would you be willing to lose in order to gain the abundant life of purpose God created you for?
Just how far would you go in your quest to give up everything for the sake of Jesus Christ?
The stakes are high…and they are very real. We will either lose our life or we will find it. There is no middle ground. We can give up everything for Jesus Christ or we can store up everything for ourselves. And what we choose will have lasting implications on this earth and for eternity.
The Choice We Make Today
The choice we make today will be the difference between living a life of purpose or spending a lifetime seeking one in vain. The key to our decision lies simply in one person: Jesus Christ. Just how will we answer His call upon our lives in a world swirling with voices that want to lead us away?
Indeed, there are a thousand competing things that rise up against the authority of Jesus Christ, telling us to live for ourselves and not Him.
They tell us to hold on to everything this world has to offer and lift it up high. Money, control, prestige, security, comfort, and the adoration of others are just a few of the world’s priorities that glitter with enticement. Click To TweetThey shine like diamonds in our eyes and whisper promises of fulfillment, knowing very well they can’t deliver. Satan is the prince of this world, and his ways appear deceptively beautiful to the fleshly nature of our being.
This enemy of Christ wants us to choose our own glory and desires over those of Jesus Christ, and he will fight hard to keep us from running to the One who has already defeated him on the cross.
The Voices from Within
Yet even beyond the voices of the enemy are the voices that rise up from within us.
These voices tell us to pull God down to our level and trust only in what we can see with our earthly eyes. They convince us to cling to our own common sense instead of believing that God can do amazing, wondrous things that are beyond our imagination. Furthermore, our own insecurities try to persuade us to believe that God could never use someone like us for His purposes. Simply put, we may choose to live for ourselves simply because we believe nothing greater is possible.
There is a war raging over our lives right now. It is a fight for control. And one side will win. Which will it be? The cause of Jesus Christ or the cause of His enemy?
The choice is ours.
We can give in to the multitude of voices that call us away from Christ.
Or we can choose to shut out those voices and instead give our lives fully to Jesus Christ, the only One who is worthy of losing all things (Philippians 3:8-9).
What will we choose? To live out our own kingdom here on earth? Or to live exclusively for a kingdom that will never be shaken?
Please join me on my own personal journey to discover what it means to live the crucified life--to die to myself and to joyfully live a life that is not my own. Click To Tweet Come by my side as we seek to discover all that is holding us back from the life of purpose that God created us for…and then learn how to let everything go for the sake of Jesus Christ.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
