A Prayer to the One I Trust

DSC04612

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 NLT

Keep me in your perfect peace, O Lord! Keep my thoughts fixed on you in all I do. I trust in you! Do not let me turn away to trust in the ways of man or in the idols of money or personal success, which promise so much yet deliver so little. Instead, let the instinct of my heart be to run to you to find peace and rest in the “shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). May I always say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:2)!

Keep me abiding in your will, O God, where I know my life has purpose and each moment has meaning. Keep me from straying to the desperate places where I try to make it on my own. Instead, let me trust in you, knowing that you go before me in all things, paving the path of my life perfectly before my feet. I may not always know where you will lead me, but I know you will take me to places I would never venture to on my own, to the places I am destined to be. Only you can help me to live beyond myself and fulfill the purpose of my life. There is none other like you, my Lord! You alone can take an ordinary life and shape it into something bigger than it is on its own.

Above all, may your love always drive me forward, so that I become more like you. Change me from the inside out, so that I more closely reflect the image of your son. This is who I am meant to be. May the power of your word ignite my heart and impact the way I live; may it forever be “a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). With each step I take, let me hear your voice calling, “This is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21). A life with you, God, is a blessed life filled with peace and purpose. May I trust in you every moment!
